Princess Gwenllian Centre Trustees
Here you can read a little bit about our lovely committee of trustees. We all volunteer for the Charity and have many different skills, passions and life experiences that help keep our town's Community Centre running.
We meet once a month every month as a full committee and also in-between as smaller groups to develop various aspects of the centre.
If you are interested in becoming a trustee and believe you have something to bring to help develop any areas of the centre please email our secretary at secretary@princessgwenlliancentre.org.
We are particularly keen on hearing from anyone with treasurer experience or other officer roles to support our current officers.
Heike Griffiths
Trustee / ChairI am the Chair of the trustees, the Equality and Diversity Officer and the Designated Safeguarding lead for the Trust. I have lived in the Kidwelly area for 24 years and my background is in Inclusion, Social Justice and Sustainable Development. I am a keen gardener and family person who likes to spend time outside and with family and friends. I do a lot of volunteering in the community, as I believe that our town’s people can achieve anything if we work together.
Jade Tarsnane
Trustee / SecretaryBorn in Aberystwyth, I grew up on the Welsh Mountains and moved to Cydweli about 25 years ago. I have 2 almost grown up children, both born at home in Cydweli, a step son and a young person who lives in my care. I have spent much of my adult life working in various roles teaching and delivering support to young people of all ages and circumstances including care leavers, autistic, homeless, NEET, substance misuse, mental health and young mums, through general youth work, specific services, and therapies including art and music projects. I have also run a children's double decker play bus and taught swimming before returning to my passion, woodwork and art, and now convert campervans. I love festivals, camping, growing my own food and spending time with my family! I also love music and have played my violin and keys in bands, I have been Secretary of the Charity since April 2023. I am keen to see a thriving youth facility and music and events scene develop at the centre!
Rob Davies
Trustee / TreasurerI have been a Kidwelly resident since 2020, having previously suffered living in London. I am a Project Manager by trade, currently working in the IT industry. I have been Treasurer of the Charity since July 2023, and was previously Chair of Carmarthenshire Green Party, having come fourth (out of four) in the 2022 County Council elections. My main interests used to be music, motorcycles and other mayhem, but these have been supplanted by the most adorable little grandchild on the planet.
Helen Griffiths
TrusteeI’m Helen and I am born and bred in Kidwelly, my family have lived here for generations, so this town really is home to me. I live here with my husband and our two children, and I really value the strong sense of community and the way people look out for one another. I volunteered as a trustee because I care deeply about Kidwelly and about having welcoming spaces where people can connect, feel supported and enjoy being together. I have a real passion for music, festivals and events, and I love how shared experiences like these bring people together and create lasting memories. Being part of the community centre means a lot to me, and I’m proud to help support a place that plays such an important role in local life.
Martin Peake
TrusteeAlthough born in Wales, I spent most of my life working and living abroad. I retired in 2013 from my last position as a Principal Scientist with an international agency. My wife and I then worked to develop a small holding near Llandeilo over a period of over 10 years. We concentrated on growing our own food and planting 6 thousand deciduous trees. Having moved to Kidwelly 3 years ago with more time on my hands I was looking to volunteer and I find being a trustee at the PGC to be a rewarding experience. I am mostly involved with others in developing the large waste ground area adjacent to the hall into a garden and wildlife space. The ground is very poor and will take several years to complete.
Lybi Maddock-Muren
TrusteeI have lived in the area for 17 years, raising my three children here. I worked as a primary school teacher for over a decade but stepped away from that and into home educating. I still have a passion for early years education and am currently running a playgroup and home education group as well as baking vegan cakes and bakes as a small local business. Kidwelly, and the Princess Gwenllian Centre play a huge part in my children's lives and their home education.
Adam Rees
TrusteeI’m Adam, I have been living in Kidwelly for about 12 years and originally from Burry Port. I am a Freelance Civil Engineer/Surveyor in the construction industry. Practical knowledge on how to build things, systems of work, problem solving, logistics, organizing, health and safety, the management of people and projects. Along with this I have a love for the outdoors, the local environment and a passion for music. I typically go to multiple live music gigs every month and a couple of festivals a year. I have previously volunteered for local events and strongly believe that Kidwelly has so much potential as a town to become one of the music and cultural hubs of South Wales. I am hoping that what I can contribute as a Trustee can help this to happen, to add to an already great community and help create great memories for the people of Kidwelly.
Diana Groom
TrusteeI have led a long and very varied life and had several careers. I moved to Kidwelly eleven years ago from the south east of England where I was winding down my psychotherapy practice. I originally trained as an actress and moved to Lebanon where my husband and I formed a theatre company with which we travelled to Jordan, Iran, and Syria. When I returned to Britain I did a series of temporary jobs while raising my two daughters and then trained to teach speech and drama. I worked for eight years as a training consultant coaching company executives. I later trained as a Councellor and then as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. In my spare time I have variously volunteered in the Samaritans, sat on the committee of a Women's Information Centre, counselled women from the local Women's Refuge and facilitated a group for ex-offenders. Since settling in Kidwelly I volunteered at the Kidwelly Hub until it closed during the Covid lockdown. I now enjoy being a member of Gwen's Garden volunteers and a Trustee of the Princess Gwenllian Hall.
Lindsey Witcombe
TrusteeWhy I do things in Kidwelly: I have been engaged in doing things in this community since 1998, after going on a year long 'training' in community development at Lampeter Uni funded by the EU. I am interested in the conservation of the natural areas of the Gwen outside space from a long commitment to helping us all reconnect to Nature through outdoor learning and looking. It's never too early or late to learn. And it's fun!
Liz Harries
TrusteeI'm a mum of 6 children. I love the environment. I enjoy the next young people to continue with the steps it involves.
